A long, LONG time ago… in a far off land *lol!! (KIDDING!), I was very good friends with a girl who made me laugh like no other person I have ever known or know to this day. Crazy sense of humour and very obscure, …warped (?…lol!) vision of most everyday things. The Far Side X 10!! We were close for many years, then I moved to Toronto and we lost touch. Before we knew it 10 years had gone by without any contact. Then, one day I get a message on Facebook from this dear friend!! I feel SO fortunate to be back in touch with her and doubly so because she asked me to photograph her Wedding this past November. What an honour!! She married an amazing guy and I am very happy for them both.

WOW!!! I have been SO busy the last couple of months it’s been impossible to keep up with my blog. SO much has happened. Life changes, MOVING, the holidays and an immense amount of work to keep moving through. LOVE IT…except when I see that my last blog posting was November!! *lol

The main point is that I’m SO pumped about the new year!! Many wonderful and exciting changes happening for Keepsake Photography this year. I’ll keep you posted and when the time is right… it’ll be launched! Stay tuned…

Fall Family session on the Farm!

I had a call from a past client who said…. “A bunch of my family would like to all get together and do some fun outdoors shots at the farm. Horses, barns a big field, quads etc…” I’M IN!! Let’s do it. This was such a beautiful property and miraculously after having snow-like conditions in the first part of the day, the second part turned out amazing! Sunny and warm. We did everything for this session!! The boys (all hunters) had their rifles out…the girls rode their horses. We had photos with all family members…cupcakes in the face, quadin’ through the mud, even the puppies had a turn. You name it, we did it. Great fun!!

The hilly field with the wildflowers was my favourite …

Family Fun with your photo shoot at home!

I had such a blast with these three!! We decided to shoot it at home as we ran out of luck with the weather. It was a great idea. I LOVE doing this in peoples’ homes!! Those of you considering the nowhere-land of Sears Portrait Studio (…not that there’s anything wrong with that) *lol , please rethink your options! Having a professional photographer come into your home where you can be comfortable and relaxed, bare-footed if you wish… with your dog or cat… is a super alternative. The children are super cozy because they’re at home. Bring out the toys…let’s have fun!

Check out this video! They’re daughter Briar is having more fun, than should be allowed. What a character! I almost lost my one-legged-rubber-Pirate-chicken to her. Thank goodness she graciously gave it back.

Milton ON Wedding | Melissa + Joshua!

I remember my consultation with Melissa and Joshua last spring because they shared a bunch of really fun and amazing ideas with me for what they wanted to do for their Wedding to really put a personal stamp on it. The big day did not disappoint!! Except…the threat of impending doom ALL day with the weather We got past the first hurdle and were able to have the ceremony outside at the gorgeous Piper’s Heath Golf Club in Milton. WOW…stunning property and perfect for Weddings. It was perfect. Warm, not too windy and the dark gray clouds just kept drifting by. Receiving line went well…still no RAIN! I’m thinking we have this in the bag!! It’s not going to rain. We did a bunch of set-ups with the bridal party…THEN one of the staff said, “You’ve got about 8 minutes before it’s a downpour!” Definitely NOT what I wanted to hear. Thank goodness Melissa and Joshua were so willing to brave a few drops!! They were such troopers We got some beautiful photos of them and managed to scoot inside just before the BIG downpour. Those dark, ominous clouds actually lent some beautiful drama to the images.

Thanks Melissa and Joshua for being so open to keep going despite the threat!! *lol

I was contacted a short time ago Katie from Matchbook Magazine e-mailed me to gauge my interest and availability to shoot an extensive session with Stratford artist Janet Hill in her home. They were featuring her in an upcoming issue and needed images. It was a fantastic session! Janet and her husband John were very gracious and funny! I had a great time chatting with them in between the photos. A lovely Victorian cottage full of art and books. Their dog Finnegan, was posing for me at almost every turn *lol. It was a great way to view Janet’s beautiful work, up close and personal.

CIBC Run For The Cure, Simcoe ON

It’s been a busy weekend with Weddings both Friday and Saturday and then Run day was yesterday!! I’ve been volunteering to photography the Run for the Cure in Simcoe for a few years now and every year is such a great experience. EMOTIONAL ….but great none-the-less. It’s a blatant reminder how SO many of us are suffering with a loved one or ourselves, with this dreaded disease. I can honestly say that I know very few people who have not been affected by it or known someone affected by it in some way. I am reaching my forth year cancer-free and my heart goes out to anyone who’s on the crazy ride of diagnosis, treatment and emotional and physical healing. It’s a telling journey about spirit and faith and my wish for anyone struggling right now is that they can uplift themselves to see past the pain and anguish to find that they have the incredible courage and strength to heal.

There was a fantastic turn-out yesterday despite the bad weather (SO COLD!!!) and Simcoe and area alone raised approximately $177,000!! YAYYYYY!!!!! I am constantly amazed at the dedication of the employee volunteers of the Simcoe CIBC. These men and women donate SO much time and energy to this and the Delhi Fashion Show event, year after year. Kudos to them all!

Beautiful Port Dover ON Wedding | Abbie & Roger~

What can I say. This Wedding really tugged at my heartstrings in a BIG way! Abbie and I have known each other for a long time. She is a talented floral and jewellery designer and we’ve always had a common creative vision when it comes to those things. We used to work together and then lost touch over some years. Then, a lovely note from her saying how happy she was and living in England with a wonderful man. They were getting married and she hoped I would consider doing the Wedding photography for them. I was so happy for her and thrilled to accept!

Last Saturday was finally the big day. An intimate gathering of family and friends came from far and wide, all over Ontario and from England. It was a heart-felt ceremony overlooking the lake on what turned out to be a gorgeous day.

Davids Restaurant in Port Dover was the setting…it was beautiful! The staff at Davids did a phenomenal job with everything. Tears of joy from all…(*including me, a few times) from the processional right through to the outdoor cocktail reception and speeches. The best of which was her brother Jeff, who gave an incredibly touching account of his bond with her over the years. Not a dry eye anywhere!

The floral designs created by Ineke Rombouts of Rombouts Pottery & Flowers were utterly magnificent!! Bright jewel tones with an eclectic assortment of texture and form. They really were awesome and so unique. Abbie and Roger both looked amazing and SO happy. They were glowing all day

I’m happy to be posting a few from Erin and Nick’s Wedding last weekend. This beautiful location outside Ancaster is a hidden gem. I had no idea it existed until they mentioned it would be the spot for their fabulous dinner and reception. We lucked out with the weather too…amazingly! It was such a beautiful day. Erin, I have to say that you looked stunning! I hope the day was everything you both wanted it to be.
