Ancaster Old Mill, Wedding | Melissa + Hubert

Usually when I arrive at the Bride’s house to do some pre-ceremony photography for a Wedding, it is usually…uh, let’s say ‘less-than-organized’.  Chaos usually ensues when I arrive as everyone freaks out screaming they didn’t realize what time it was and how they’re SO sorry they haven’t even showered yet. *lol!!!  That last bit is exaggerated…they’re usually clean, at least.

Not the case when I arrived at Melissa’s house.

I entered.

Quiet…

Her parents graciously welcomed me and showed me where the items I asked to be present were patiently awaiting my arrival. I get my gear together.

calm silence.

WOW, I thought.  Where IS everyone?????  They were ALL there and perfectly organized and attending to their duties exactly on-time.  Fabulous!!  *lol!!  I am so used to rolling with the punches and shooting on the fly.  Being behind… this was a wonderful change.  I guess that’s why Melissa”s an Air Traffic Controller!

The Ancaster Old Mill was, as usual, an amazing backdrop for Melissa and Hubert’s Wedding.  It was a beautiful day and many a laugh was had during family pictures!  Great bunch.

It’s such a pleasure to walk away with such a full heart.  I think I just take in all the love and happiness and when I’m done, I take it all home with me   :)

Cailey + Stephen | Niagara-on-the-Lake Wedding!

I always look forward to shooting in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.  When Cailey & Stephen came to talk to me about shooting their Wedding and told me it was taking place at the Prince of Wales Hotel, I knew it would be gorgeous!  A November Wedding…with everything decorated for Christmas.  ~so pretty :)    It was an intimate service with a small gathering of family and friends, photos, cocktails and then an incredible meal.   The weather even held out for us so we could get down to the waterfront for some photos.  It was a perfect day!

Thanks C&S.  It was a privilege to spend the day with you!

Sandi & Rob’s beautiful Wedding!!

A long, LONG time ago… in a far off land *lol!!  (KIDDING!), I was very good friends with a girl who made me laugh like no other person I have ever known or know to this day.  Crazy sense of humour and very obscure, …warped (?…lol!) vision of most everyday things.  The Far Side X 10!!   We were close for many years, then I moved to Toronto and we lost touch.  Before we knew it 10 years had gone by without any contact.  Then, one day I get a message on Facebook from this dear friend!!  I feel SO fortunate to be back in touch with her and doubly so because she asked me to photograph her Wedding this past November.  What an honour!!  She married an amazing guy and I am very happy for them both.

Much love to you Sandi & Rob!  May you enjoy many years of Wedded bliss :)

Milton ON Wedding | Melissa + Joshua!

I remember my consultation with Melissa and Joshua last spring because they shared a bunch of really fun and amazing ideas with me for what they wanted to do for their Wedding to really put a personal stamp on it.   The big day did not disappoint!!  Except…the threat of impending doom ALL day with the weather :(    We got past the first hurdle and were able to have the ceremony outside at the gorgeous Piper’s Heath Golf Club in Milton.  WOW…stunning property and perfect for Weddings.  It was perfect.  Warm, not too windy and the dark gray clouds just kept drifting by.  Receiving line went well…still no RAIN!  I’m thinking we have this in the bag!!  It’s not going to rain.  We did a bunch of set-ups with the bridal party…THEN  one of the staff said, “You’ve got about 8 minutes before it’s a downpour!”  Definitely NOT what I wanted to hear.  Thank goodness Melissa and Joshua were so willing to brave a few drops!!  They were such troopers :)   We got some beautiful photos of them and managed to scoot inside just before the BIG downpour.  Those dark, ominous clouds actually lent some beautiful drama to the images.

Thanks Melissa and Joshua for being so open to keep going despite the threat!! *lol

Beautiful Port Dover ON Wedding | Abbie & Roger~

What can I say.  This Wedding really tugged at my heartstrings in a BIG way!  Abbie and I have known each other for a long time.  She is a talented floral and jewellery designer and we’ve always had a common creative vision when it comes to those things.  We used to work together and then lost touch over some years.  Then, a lovely note from her saying how happy she was and living in England with a wonderful man.  They were getting married and she hoped I would consider doing the Wedding photography for them.  I was so happy for her and thrilled to accept!

Last Saturday was finally the big day.  An intimate gathering of family and friends came from far and wide, all over Ontario and from England.  It was a heart-felt ceremony overlooking the lake on what turned out to be a gorgeous day.

Davids Restaurant  in Port Dover was the setting…it was beautiful!  The staff at Davids did a phenomenal job with everything.  Tears of joy from all…(*including me, a few times) from the processional right through to the outdoor cocktail reception and speeches.  The best of which was her brother Jeff, who gave an incredibly touching account of his bond with her over the years.  Not a dry eye anywhere!

The floral designs created by Ineke Rombouts of Rombouts Pottery & Flowers were utterly magnificent!!  Bright jewel tones with an eclectic assortment of texture and form.  They really were awesome and so unique.  Abbie and Roger both looked amazing and SO happy.  They were glowing all day :)

Abbie and Roger… my sincere thanks to you for inviting me to share your Wedding Day.  Wishing you much love and happiness. xo

Beautiful Wedding at Copetown Woods Golf Club, Ancaster | Erin & Nick~

I’m happy to be posting a few from Erin and Nick’s Wedding last weekend.  This beautiful location outside Ancaster is a hidden gem.  I had no idea it existed until they mentioned it would be the spot for their fabulous dinner and reception.  We lucked out with the weather too…amazingly!  It was such a beautiful day.   Erin, I have to say that you looked stunning!  I hope the day was everything you both wanted it to be.

Thank you for the privilege of documenting your gorgeous Wedding!

Melissa and Ben | Beautiful Otterville Garden Wedding!

The backdrop for this lovely day was the Herbal Touch Friendship Garden in Otterville.

What a beautiful place for a Wedding!

Ben and Melissa had a hot, sunny summer day shared with some amazing friends and family, some of whom came from England and Thailand.   What made it even more special is that they have been living in Thailand, teaching for a number of years and decided to come home to get married.   I probably had some of the best fun I’ve had with a group!!

Thanks Ben and Melissa!  Best of luck in Kuwait.

Kim and Matias | Guelph ON Wedding

This was one of the most unique and fun-filled Weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing.  Kim and Matias had some great ideas about what they wanted to do…  the day unfolded surprise after surprise!  They danced down the aisle together to exchange rings, they planted a tree at the ceremony spot AND there was a reading during the ceremony from the bride’s high school diary about the groom when she first had feelings for him.  TOO FUNNY!!!  …they even did the paperwork and legal stuff the day before so they could just enjoy the day and have a good time.  Smart!

Kim and Matias, I wish you both the best life has to offer.  Thanks for the opportunity to capture all the fun :)

Beach Wedding… Turkey Point ON

When Cheryl contacted a few weeks before her Wedding to see if I was available, I had to ask…”Why so late booking???”  The reply didn’t shock me at all but I was relieved she came to her senses, last minute or not.  Her friends and family begged them to hire a professional photographer instead of just having people snap random moments.  I can’t tell you how many times I have heard that it’s the one BIG regret people have, that they didn’t hire a professional photographer for their Wedding.    The collage of random, out of focus, thumb in front of lens snaps just doesn’t cut it when you’re reminiscing ten or twenty years later.  Trust me, we EARN every penny! :)

Back to Cheryl and Chris…..

It was a beautiful day in Turkey Point with their many friends and family all cottaging in the area, many of them from Calgary.  Devlins’ did an amazing job catering (as usual) and the happy couple stood right in the sand to say their vows.  What better way?

Thanks Cheryl and Chris for the privilege!!   Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
