Fall Family session on the Farm!

I had a call from a past client who said…. “A bunch of my family would like to all get together and do some fun outdoors shots at the farm.  Horses, barns a big field, quads etc…”  I’M IN!!  Let’s do it.   This was such a beautiful property and miraculously after having snow-like conditions in the first part of the day, the second part turned out amazing!  Sunny and warm.  We did everything for this session!!  The boys (all hunters) had their rifles out…the girls rode their horses.  We had photos with all family members…cupcakes in the face, quadin’ through the mud, even the puppies had a turn.  You name it, we did it.  Great fun!!

The hilly field with the wildflowers was my favourite …

Family Fun with your photo shoot at home!

I had such a blast with these three!!  We decided to shoot it at home as we ran out of luck with the weather.  It was a great idea.  I LOVE doing this in peoples’ homes!!  Those of you considering the nowhere-land of Sears Portrait Studio (…not that there’s anything wrong with that) *lol  , please rethink your options!  Having a professional photographer come into your home where you can be comfortable and relaxed, bare-footed if you wish… with your dog or cat… is a super alternative.  The children are super cozy because they’re at home.  Bring out the toys…let’s have fun!

Check out this video!  They’re daughter Briar is having more fun, than should be allowed.  What a character!   I almost lost my one-legged-rubber-Pirate-chicken to her.  Thank goodness she graciously gave it back. :)

Photo sessions at home!

It’s not that I dislike a studio or studio-look of an image, it has it’s place.  I DO believe however that people respond very differently to being photographed depending on the environment they’re in.

My thought is that taking a family to a conservation area, play park or beach and letting them “play” produces much more natural images than photographing them in a studio.  Even having the session in the home, with kids in their rooms with their favourite toys creates a much more comfortable setting for them and beautiful, natural images :)

Welcome baby Liam!

What is it that makes us feel overcome with awe when we see a newborn baby?  The idea of possibility… or maybe true, untarnished hope for the future?  I had the privilege of trying to visually capture a bit of that feeling with 9 day old Liam Blom.  Sweet, soft… lovely.

I photographed his parents’ beautiful Wedding last summer and even did a maternity session with them on Mother’s Day…. perfect timing because he was ready a little over a week later!

Welcome to little Liam and congratulations to Stephen and Sharon on making a gorgeous, perfect little bundle.

The MacIntyres

So… I was warned (with a giggle) that if I didn’t work some magic, things might not go so well.  This was within the first five minutes…

I DON’T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT???

What I saw was a beautiful family that has learned to really look after each other.  Each has the other one’s back and all are incredibly patient and fun-loving, respectful and compassionate.  The older kids help look after the younger one’s to give Mom and Dad a break.  What a wonderful family dynamic!  Never mind the good looking and photogenic part!!!

Thankfully we ventured to Webster’s Falls EARLY to beat the massive crowds.  It was a gorgeous morning.  I had a fantastic time with these folks… great way to spend a holiday Monday!

Trent, Bryse and Michelle…

Frogs and dirt… skinned knees, climbing ANYTHING and boundless energy!  Trent and Bryse had never-ending ideas for picture locations.  Here…. there, down there or ‘how about over the bridge next to the tree-stump beside the river over here?’  :)  Great fun!   ….and yes they found a frog.

It was just fun hanging out with this family, letting them do what they wanted to do and shooting them doing it.  We did some shots that were set-up but within that, I let them be themselves and be comfortable.

I must say Michelle, you’ve done an incredible job.  The boys are SOOOOOO polite, mannerly and respectful!!  You should be extremely proud.

Thanks for a great day.
